…More than a million titles now available from COOLER-EBOOKS.com,
the first ebookstore outside the US to partner with Google Books…

Reading, England, ISSUE DATE: GMT 10:00am, 2 September 2009: British
company Interead announces that COOLER-EBOOKS.com is the first ebookstore outside
the US to partner with Google to include over 1 million public domain books (close
to half a million outside the US) from Google Books in its online library. Starting
today, COOLER-EBOOKS.com will feature a Google API with out of copyright works from
the Google Books index, accessible for free via the COOLER-EBOOKS.com website, and the COOL-ER ereader. With this partnership,
COOLERBOOKS.com becomes the largest ebookstore in the world, with over one million
titles available for purchase or free access.
COOLER-EBOOKS.com is known for being the ebookstore designed
by readers, for readers. Unlike other ebookstores, COOLER-EBOOKS.com accommodates
19 document formats: these include EPUB and PDF, and MP3 for audio books, giving
this ebookstore the broadest range of formats on the web. Users will also be able
to view a preview of many of the ebooks on offer, allowing them to read a few pages
before deciding whether they would like to buy the whole title.
Interead is also the company behind the COOL-ER ereader,
a light, affordable and user-friendly ereader designed to be used by technophiles
and tech-phobes alike.
‘At Interead, our aim has always been to make ebooks available
to ordinary book lovers, not just technology enthusiasts,’ explains Neil Jones,
founder of Interead and avid book lover. ‘We want everyone to be able to enjoy the
content on COOLER-EBOOKS.com, so even if you don’t own one of our COOL-ER ereaders
you can still download your favourite titles. And now, our partnership with Google
allows us to offer more content than anyone else, as well as giving readers the
freedom to have a look through ebooks that they might be interested in. We’re extremely
proud to be the first ebookstore outside the US to partner with Google Books, and
we hope that the collaboration will make the appeal and accessibility of ebooks
broader than ever.’
"We're
delighted to make part of our public domain books available to users via
COOLER-EBOOKS.com. We believe in an open platform for accessing and
reading books, we're always looking for more ways to expand access to books. This
partnership will make it easier for users to find and access public domain books,
thus helping bring more books to more people," says Santiago de la Mora, Head of
Print Content Partnerships, EMEA.
